Rangers winger Jamie Murphy has delivered a message to fans after his surgery.
Murphy was ruled out for the rest of the season after damaging his knee ligaments in the 3-1 cup victory against Kilmarnock.
Gerrard described him as a “huge player” and said he was “bitterly disappointed” to lose him.
In the message he says that “Recovery starts now!”. He adds that the operation was a success and says he’s “Ready for the challenge ahead.”

OPINION
Rangers fans are delighted to hear that Murphy’s operation was a success and are looking forward to seeing him back out at Ibrox. One said it would be a “great day” when he runs out onto the Ibrox pitch again and another said it was “Great news” that his operation was a success. The injury was a huge blow to him and Rangers, as Gerrard pointed out, and now the hard work begins for Murphy as he rehabilitates. It will be incredibly frustrating for him to have to watch as the season unfolds for the first time under Gerrard and he’ll be hoping they can regroup and come back with a reaction after losing the first Old Firm clash of the season. To be fair, Rangers were never really expected to get anything from the clash at Celtic Park in front of the rabid home fans, but much more will be expected when they meet again at Ibrox in December. That will give Gerrard time to completely bed in his new players and get them playing how he wants them to. Murphy will be a very interested spectator, and we wish him all the best as he comes back from what was a nasty injury.
