BBC pundit Tam McManus delivered a damning verdict on Celtic after they suffered a shock 2-1 loss on Sunday afternoon to Kilmarnock.

Despite leading 1-0 at half-time through a Leigh Griffiths goal, Celtic came away with nothing after a really poor performance across the board.

A Stuart Findlay header was enough to grab all three points for Killie and McManus unloaded on Celtic on Twitter.

He said that the other teams in the Premiership “must be smelling blood” and said that Celtic were “p*** poor again” labelling it a “dreadful performance.”

OPINION

Why hold back? Celtic were absolutely awful today and their fans will have reason for alarm, especially as Rangers beat St Johnstone to leapfrog them into second place. It seems like the Celtic side can only rouse itself for big games and the changes made by Rodgers for today’s game (six in total after Jack Hendry replaced Filip Benkovic during the warm-up) shows a complacency that was rightly punished today.  On their game you’d have to say that they’re still the strongest team in the league, but how often have they been on it this season? If they’re not careful they could give themselves a lot of work to do in the second half of the season. You can point to a really quiet summer – one that was in complete contrast to Rangers – and fans will be clamouring for money to be spent in January. However, after performances like today’s the blame really should be laid at the door of the current crop of players. They’re better than this.
