Jack Hendry was a late addition to the Celtic starting line-up to take on Kilmarnock after Filip Benkovic was injured in the warm-up, and fans slated his display in a 2-1 defeat on Twitter.

Brendan Rodgers initially made five changes to the team that beat Rosenborg in the Europa League on Thursday, changing his entire midfield and attack bar Scott Brown.

And Hendry made it six as Rodgers decided to rotate heavily against Kilmarnock, despite not beating them in the last three games.

It worked out in the first-half though as Leigh Griffiths gave Celtic the lead in the first-half after some awful defending from the home side.

However, Kilmarnock equalised midway through the second half and scored at the death to heap pressure on Rodgers and his rotation.

Celtic fans were in no mood to go easy on Hendry – here are the best reactions from fans to the 23-year-old centre-back:

OPINION

There are a section of Celtic fans who would criticise Hendry if he played a blinder. He didn’t today but we thought he did okay after he was thrust into the starting line-up late on after a warm-up injury to Benkovic. He doesn’t seem to have much confidence though – and that might have something to do with the fans’ attitude towards him. The 23-year-old signed in January from Dundee and has gone onto make 19 appearances for Celtic but he’s not Rodgers’ first choice for the position. As a rotation option and as cover for injuries, Hendry can do a job, although you could throw some blame his way for the first Killie goal. And you’d have to worry if he was put on a big stage against much tougher opposition in the Europa League.
