Some Celtic fans took to social media in order to rave about defender Filip Benkovic starting against St Mirren on Friday night.
The 21-year-old centre-back joined the Hoops on loan from Leicester City in the summer but ahead of his side’s clash against St Mirren, he hadn’t been used by Brendan Rodgers as of yet.
However fans were thrilled at the prospect of Benkovic finally making his debut for the Hoops as several took to Twitter to praise his inclusion in their club’s latest starting line-up.
One fan tweeted that they were excited to see what the centre-back was all about while another was happy that the defender was finally getting playing time.

OPINION
It seems Rodgers has given fans exactly what they want by starting Benkovic against St Mirren on Friday night as a section of fans were raving about his inclusion. The 6ft 3in tall centre-back (Source: Transfermarkt) is set to make his debut against St Mirren after signing from Leicester City on loan at the end of August. It seems supporters are expecting him to impress them in his first outing for the team and it’ll be interesting to see if he is able to live up to expectations. Rodgers has chosen a good game to hand Benkovic playing time as St Mirren shouldn’t cause his side too many problems and the defender should have just adjusted to life after a few weeks at the club. Hopefully fans aren’t too harsh on him if he has a few shaky moments as he is no doubt nervous about pulling on the famous Celtic jersey for the first time.
