Celtic will look to bounce back from a disappointing domestic result with a win in their opening Europa League fixture against Rosenborg on Thursday, and Brendan Rodgers must make three key changes to his starting XI.

The Hoops struggled to break down Premiership minnows St. Mirren in their last outing, with the two sides playing out a 0-0 draw on Friday at St. Mirren Park.

That was a disappointing display from Rodgers’ side and he must now respond by making a few important changes to his lineup, handing chances to some fringe players who deserve a chance.

In goal, Craig Gordon must start as normal.

A back four of Cristian Gamboa, Kristoffer Ajer, Dedryck Boyata and Kieran Tierney must start, with Filip Benkovic dropping out. Rarely-seen flyer Gamboa must be handed a surprise chance after impressing whenever called upon this season, with senior star Mikael Lustig just returning from a calf injury.

In midfield, Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham should retain their places, despite the latter’s red card against St. Mirren on Friday.

Those aforementioned changes must come in attack, with James Forrest dropping out for Scott Sinclair, while Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor should keep their places.

The other key change must see the off-colour Odsonne Edouard axed after some poor displays in recent weeks, with Leigh Griffiths handed a chance to impress after sitting on the bench for so long.
