A section of Rangers fans have made it clear on Twitter that they want Glenn Middleton to earn his full debut against Ayr United on Wednesday night.
Steven Gerrard is likely to make a number of changes to his side when they welcome the Scottish Championship side to Ibrox in the quarter final of the BetFred Cup this week.
And some Gers fans want to see Middleton, 18, earn his first start for the club against Ayr after a series of impressive performances off the bench since he arrived from Norwich in January of this year.

OPINION
Middleton has been seriously impressive off the bench for Rangers in the last few weeks, especially when his second-half introduction against Villarreal provided the spark for a brilliant 2-2 draw in Spain. Middleton has now made eight appearances in all competitions for the Light Blues but is yet to start a game, so it will be interesting to see what he can do in 90 minutes rather than just being used as an impact sub by Gerrard. Rangers fans love seeing young players break into the first team and the number of them calling for Middleton to start against Ayr just goes to show how highly-rated the winger is at Ibrox. If he can impress against last season’s League One champions, then it is going to put him in a good position to get more starts as the season goes on. Ryan Kent needs to watch his back because the competition for a spot on the left-wing is about to increase a lot.
