As the dust settles on yet another summer transfer window, Wolverhampton Wanderers will be feeling pretty confident about their chances of success in the Premier League, having built up a pretty talented squad.

With the likes of first team stars Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho having an immediate impact, Nuno Esperito Santo knew that he could also afford to ship out some of those on the fringes of the first team in order to get them off the books and in some cases, playing some first team football on loan.

The likes of Michel Zyro and Bright Enobakhare were sent out temporarily after having featured in the past, but one surprise name – which many will have forgotten was still at Molineux – which remained is 23-year-old Dominic Iorfa.

The defender, who plays at right back and centre back, has been completely outcast from the first team under Nuno, and has failed to add to his 93 appearances for the senior side in quite some time.

However, despite being firmly out of favour, he has been given something of a lifeline after being named part of the club’s official squad for the Premier League season – as revealed on the Express and Star.

His inclusion will come as a major surprise – but while some might say it is simply to keep him as back up, he now has an opportunity to become a surprise revelation in the top flight, so long as he puts the effort in training and forces Nuno to reconsider his stance.

He was highly rated as recently as 2015, when he was training with the senior England side while with the under-21s, and at 23, has plenty of potential to fulfil.

It might take injury or suspension to force his way into the club’s plans, but the fact of the matter remains – Iorfa could forge a shock comeback this season.
