West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini could be sacked in early October if he does not change the club’s fortunes around, according to Team Talk.

The football news outlet has revealed that the Hammers’ board have already drawn up a short list of potential replacements for the Chilean, who was only appointed as manager earlier this summer.

He now has a matter of weeks to turn the Irons’ fortunes around, otherwise he will be out the London Stadium exit door.

A number of well-known names have already been floating around – Claudio Ranieri, Louis Van Gaal and Carlos Carvahal have been discussed – but the likes of Watford’s Javi Garcia, Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers and Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez are at the top of the board’s list.

OPINION

Pellegrini has had a torrid season at West Ham so far, so it comes as no surprise that the club are reportedly considering replacing him in October if things do not improve. They invested a lot of money into getting new players, but so far, he has not repaid their investment. He cannot seem to get the players to click, and as things stand, they could be in for a very long season ahead if their bad luck continues. They are capable of much more than they have already displayed, and now it is up to Pellegrini to get them playing to a high standard and get those much needed results. However, only giving him until October seems to be a bit harsh on their part. That certainly is not long enough for a manager to prove his credentials, but it seems that the board want instant results – and he must start delivering them, or he will be out the exit door sooner than expected.
