Tottenham have entered the race for 21-year-old  Ajax winger David Neres, according to the Daily Express.

The Brazilian winger is rated at £45million and has been scouted by Man United, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund already this season.

Neres signed a contract extension this month which will keep him at Ajax until 2022 but is set to leave the Dutch side and net his side a massive profit.

This is exactly the sort of player that Daniel Levy and Muricio Pochettino should be targeting in January, and if they can beat their rivals to the talented youngster it will go some way towards making up for the disastrous summer they had. Neres is a real talent. The youngster was bought from Sao Paulo for £11million in 2017 but started playing in the reserves. However, the Express claim he impressed so much there that he was fast-tracked to the first-team. In his first season in the Eredivisie he scored 14 goals and registered 13 assists in just 32 games, and that’s got him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Spurs and Ajax have a history of good business, with Christian Eriksen, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen all boosting Ajax’s coffers massively. And they look set to make another huge profit on Neres in January if their £45million valuation is met. With the calibre of sides after him, there’s a chance they’ll get that fee too, although that could see the notoriously thrifty Levy drop out.
