Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly showing an interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and many fans have taken to Twitter to react excitedly to the news.
As reported by the Mirror, Spurs were among three Premier League sides to watch the Serbia international in action against Genoa last week, in a game in which he scored in a 4-1 win.
Many Tottenham fans on Twitter have now reacted to the report, with the vast majority seemingly extremely excited about the prospect of seeing the 23-year-old at the club.
OPINION
These Tottenham fans seem seriously excited by the prospect of the club moving for Milinkovic-Savic, who has been one of Europe’s most talked-about players in the last season or so. The 23-year-old has become a key cog in the Lazio midfield, and impressed for Serbia at the World Cup over the summer. Interest from some of the continent’s biggest clubs in the summer window further increased the hype surrounding him, although he ended up remaining in Rome for another season at least. A swoop from Tottenham makes perfect sense next summer with Mousa Dembele set to leave the club, but whether it is realistic is another matter. The fees that have been bandied about for Milinkovic-Savic are well in excess of £60million, and it is unlikely that Daniel Levy would sanction such a move. It would also be a big ask to convince the Serbia international to join them over the multiple other clubs that will undoubtedly make a move next summer, and these fans seem well aware of that fact.

That’s the player we need no matter what the cost is.

This would be a great signing but unless we’re willing to triple our record signing fee this will never happen

Would love him there!! He would be the missing piece. A creative, energetic CM. But can’t see it happening.
