Danny Rose has had a tough time of things over the past year or so, with the flying left-back struggling with injury and off-field issues that have seen him lose his starting berth for Tottenham.

The form of Ben Davies has been enough to keep the 28-year-old on the sidelines since his return to fitness, but things may finally be turning the way of the England international after the events of the last few weeks.

First came Rose’s surprise inclusion in the Spurs starting XI to face Manchester United at Old Trafford, a game which the club went on to win 3-0.

Rose did not necessarily put in a brilliant display against the Red Devils, but he was solid enough, and you cannot argue with him being part of such a successful winning team.

He did then drop out of the team for Davies to come back in against Watford, with Tottenham going on to lose that game with the Wales international playing poorly.

The latest boost for Rose has come over the international break, with Davies initially playing well for Wales as they thrashed Ireland but then faltering in a poor display as they lost 2-0 to Denmark.

Rose then responded with a man-of-the-match performance against Switzerland on Tuesday evening to really push for a Tottenham starting place this weekend as they prepare to face top-four rivals Liverpool.

The 28-year-old’s presence in Tottenham’s winning side at United, and his scintillating display for England last night mean that Mauricio Pochettino can no longer ignore the £65,000-a-week full-back [Telegraph].

Rose quite clearly offers more attacking threat than Davies, and his good form in recent weeks shows that he is ready to start against Liverpool.

It is a move which makes perfect sense for Tottenham, who will need to take the game to Liverpool, and Pochettino must make this switch without hesitation.
