Tottenham Hotspur surrendered a lead to lose 2-1 to Inter Milan in their Champions League opener on Tuesday, but many fans have taken to Twitter to rave about the display of right-back Serge Aurier.
Tottenham grew into the contest towards the end of the first half and took the lead in the second period when Christian Eriksen’s shot took a big deflection and looped over Samir Handanovic, but late goals from Mauro Icardi and Matias Vecino broke Spurs hearts.
A section of Tottenham fans on Twitter have reacted positively to Aurier’s display, with many having expressed their fear over the 25-year-old starting the match beforehand.

OPINION
These Tottenham fans are drooling over Aurier’s display v Inter Milan, and it is easy to see why. The Ivory Coast international was absolutely superb at right-back for Spurs and he went a long way to proving his many doubters wrong. He was solid at the back and covered the right flank brilliantly, while also putting in some crucial last-minute tackles and interceptions. HIs pace was on show constantly going forward, with the 25-year-old bombing down the right flank whenever he got the chance. His final ball was also very decent, and there were a couple of occasions when his teammates should have done better after his delivery. All in all it was a fantastic performance from Aurier, who was slated so hard before the match after Kieran Trippier was left at home by Mauricio Pochettino. Spurs fans will surely not be so quick to do so again the in the future after this display.
