Tottenham Hotspur travel to the south coast to take on Brighton in Saturday’s late kick-off, and Mauricio Pochettino must revert to a back three against the Seagulls.

Spurs are coming into this one on the back of three consecutive defeats in all competitions, the first time the club have gone on such a run under Pochettino.

A heartbreaking Champions League loss to Inter Milan on Tuesday will have been a bitter pill to swallow for Tottenham, who led until the 86th minute.

A trip to the Amex Stadium promises a different kind of test, and Pochettino must revert to a back three if he wants to guarantee a result against the Seagulls.

In goal, Michel Vorm must start after an improved display against Inter.

In defence, a back three of Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen must start, with Mousa Dembele dropping out of the side in midfield.

Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier must start at left and right wing-back respectively, while £70,000-a-week destroyer Victor Wanyama [Silly Season] must be trusted with the lone holding role, with Eric Dier, Ben Davies, and Serge Aurier axed.

Christian Eriksen must start again after an improved display against Inter, with Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura occupying the wide areas, meaning Son Heung-min drops onto the bench.

And finally, Harry Kane must lead the line as normal despite questions over his form.

This is a system which will provide Spurs with a solid base at the back to build on but also free up their dangerous wide players to do damage on the Brighton flanks.

Tottenham have been struggling to break sides down in attack recently and this switch of formation should help them do that.
