Newcastle fans didn’t see a lot to make them happy in the 2-0 defeat against Leicester on Saturday, but they were impressed with defender Jamaal Lascelles.
Their captain is a rock at the back and put in another solid display yesterday but even he couldn’t stop Leicester from leaving St James’ Park with all three points.
It leaves Newcastle in the bottom three in the Premier League, with just two points from their first seven games, which is making Newcastle fans think they’re in for a long season.
And one fan thinks that Lascelles will leave Newcastle if things don’t improve.
Here are the best reactions from Newcastle fans after Lascelles’ display on Saturday:

That today was a joke! Dubravka Shelvey and Lascelles only 3 that would get a game in another premiership team.

Lascelles the only real highlight, he's a very traditional defender and his man marking of Vardy kept us sealed.

When you realise that only Dubravka, Lascelles and Shelvey would get in the opposing Leicester team you realise exactly where we are. Beyond that ‘last seasons’ Kenedy probably the only other one they’d even consider! It’s a long way to May!

OPINION
Benitez worked wonders with his Newcastle squad last season but he seems to be in real trouble this season. Newcastle never looked like getting anything from the game, and as one fan pointed out, when only a couple of your players would get in the Leicester side, you know something’s not right. However, as much as Mike Ashley is the real problem at Newcastle, manager Rafa Benitez has to take some of the blame. The big problem with Newcastle at the moment is the front line. With Rondon injured (what is it with Newcastle signing injured players?) they’ve only got Ayoze Perez, Joselu and Yoshinori Muto, and Benitez doesn’t seem to fancy the Japanese player. Meanwhile, Aleksandar Mitrovic is scoring for fun at Fulham. That’s a real issue. No matter how well Lascelles plays at the back, if Newcastle can’t score goals they’re going to get relegated.
