Manchester City are keeping tabs on Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien with Pep Guardiola a huge fan of the 23-year-old, according to Le10Sport.

The French outlet report that Guardiola has been tracking the versatile midfielder for a while but a serious injury in March 2017 saw City’s interest cool.

Le10Sport claim that a City scout was in attendance to watch the young star play for Nice in a 1-0 win over Lyon in late August, with City likely to reignite their hunt if he regains top form.

Good move for Manchester City?

This would be an interesting move from City if they were to move for Cyprien. The 23-year-old is undoubtedly a huge talent, but is yet to really show he is ready for the jump to the highest level.

A very serious knee injury suffered in 2017 put the France youth international out for a long while, and he is still really finding his feet back in the game after such a long lay-off.

Hopefully he can push on now and put that behind him to become the player he can be.

Likely to happen?

Should he begin to show that kind of form, then City look likely to move for him, and that would be the opportunity of a lifetime for the young star.

However, he must put any thoughts of such a move out of his mind for now, and focus on the season ahead with Nice. The Ligue 1 club have started the season very poorly indeed, with just four points coming from their first four games, and improvement is needed.

Cyprien will have to step up his game as well with no goals and no assists registered as yet.
