A section of fans took to Twitter to hail Liverpool defender Andy Robertson for his performance for Scotland in their 2-0 Nations League win against Albania on Monday night.

The recently-appointed Tartan Army skipper played the full 90 minutes of the clash at Hampden Park as his side quelled the doubts surrounding Alex McLeish as manager.

Supporters of various clubs were struck by the excellence of Robertson, used in a left wing-back role in McLeish’s 3-5-2 system.

COMMENTARY:

It has been a memorable week for Scotland captain Robertson, who will return to Anfield with his confidence sky high after his team secured a much-needed triumph to get their Nations League campaign under way in style. Scotland were impressive, and even exciting at times, and much of that was due to their strength and quality on the left flank, with Roberton on the left flank and Kieran Tierney behind him on the left side of three centre-backs. The duo are Scotland’s two outstanding players and McLeish has devised a system to get the best out of them, after the brilliant Celtic youngster had previously been used at right-back by Gordon Strachan. Robertson has started all four of Liverpool’s Premier League matches this season and will surely start a fifth as he turns his attention to preparing for Saturday’s clash against Tottenham.
