Everton centre-back Yerry Mina is a major doubt for this weekend’s fixture against West Ham United due to injury, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The regional newspaper reports on its website that the 23-year-old has still not participated in full training with the Everton team due the fact he is still recovering from a foot injury.

The £27million summer signing is said to be making “good progress’ in his recovery, but the clash with the Hammers has come around too quickly for him to feature.

Boss Marco Silva remarked how the Colombian international would not be fit until after the round of international matches, but the Toffees’ next match is still too soon for Mina to make his debut for the club.

OPINION

Mina remaining a doubt for this match will certainly be a bitter blow to Marco Silva. Despite the fact that Mina is yet to make his debut since making the move to Goodison Park on deadline day, he is one of their best centre-backs at the club. He proved this during his time at the World Cup, where he was one of his country’s standout players at the tournament. It remains to be seen when Mina will finally make his debut appearance for the Toffees, as there has been no clear indication as to when this is supposed to happen. The report states that he is making ‘good progress’ with his injury, but that can still mean it could be a while before he makes his Everton bow. Fans will have their fingers crossed that they will see the World Cup star in action soon, where he will prove why the club shelled out £27 million for his services.
