Everton manager Marco Silva could have a dressing room mutiny on the cards as the senior players lead a revolt against his coaching methods, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim the first team stars are “unhappy with the amount of training and instructions they are getting” since Silva was appointed over the summer.

The Sun report senior players are convinced the Portugese favours too much tactical work that goes above their heads and the squad have been getting together to push for changes, with hints dropped to the management about reducing training and simplifying instructions.

OPINION

With six points from their opening five matches ahead of Sunday’s away match at Arsenal, Silva has had an okay start as Everton manager without quite setting the world alight. Last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to West Ham highlighted how significant star summer signing Richarlison is to the side, and the new for Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes to get back out on the pitch after arriving from Barcelona with injuries. Talk of a player revolt just five matches into the season is intriguing and concerning. Some will scoff at reports with unnamed sources as simply stirring up trouble with no apparent foundation, but it should be taken seriously. If Siva’s message is not getting through, is he the problem? Or the players struggling to take his instructions on board? Should the manager change? Or change the players who won’t bend, or who are incapable of doing so.
