Three goals so far in his start to life on Merseyside, and it would be safe to say that Toffees’ fans are excited about what the future holds for their club with this star on board.
However, that could all be about to change after the latest comments made by the 21-year-old ace in an interview with Spanish outlet AS.
When asked whether he would ever contemplate playing for the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona, the first teamer suggested that joining the Toffees is merely a stepping stone on his way to bigger things.
“That way you leave me in a complicated situation … (laughs). They are two giants, the dream of any player. And in the end the next step will depend a lot on what you do here,” he said.
This suggestion from Richarlison could leave the Toffees’ faithful fuming, even if he did not directly say that joining Everton is just a stop-gap in a pursuit of the big time.
He could end up being one of Everton’s most influential players with his current form, and the supporters will certainly be disappointed in their summer signing for implying such a thing.
Obviously, most players dream of playing for the La Liga giants, and that does not look to be any different in regards to the young ace.
However, suggesting that Everton is merely a stepping stone not long after joining the club indicates a bad attitude, and it may lead to some fans raging over his commitment to the club.
If anything, it shows a lack of respect to a club like Everton, who are certainly in amongst with a shout for a place in Europe next season.
The supporters will be fuming with Richarlison for making these suggestions – but they will still have their fingers crossed that he remains at the club for the forseeable future.
