Serie A giants AC Milan are preparing to enter back into the hunt for Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas as they eye up a January bid, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.
The newspaper reports that Gennaro Gattuso’s side were interested in the Spain international this summer, but were unable to get a deal done.
Now Milan, who sit sixth in the Serie A table, are preparing a January move for the 31-year-old. Fabregas’s Blues contract, worth £156,000-per-week (Source: Spotrac), expires at the end of this season, and he would be free to negotiate with foreign clubs come next year.
Milan could then either persuade him to sign a pre-contract agreement, or make an official bid to sign him immediately and convince Chelsea to cash in on him while they can.

Fabregas’s time at Chelsea does appear to be drawing to a curiously muted end. He has been a good player for the club, and still is, but he hasn’t really featured under new manager Maurizio Sarri. Jorginho is clearly Sarri’s chosen conductor in the middle of the park, while N’Golo Kante provides the effervescent energy. Mateo Kovacic’s arrival on loan from Real Madrid has made it even harder for Fabregas to get a game, while Sarri even appears to favour forgotten man Ross Barkley over the Spaniard. Milan would be a good landing spot for the former Arsenal man, though. The Italians have been rebuilding for some time now, but finally look to be making good progress under Gattuso. Signing Fabregas could take them to the next level, while he could enjoy the last years of his career at the top in Italy. It seems like a win-win for everyone involved.
