A section of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to call on Aaron Ramsey to reproduce his international form for his club.

The midfielder scored one of Wales’ goals in their 4-1 demolition of the Republic of Ireland on Thursday night in what was a memorable first competitive game in charge for Ryan Giggs.

Ramsey’s impressive performance at the heart of the Wales midfield was bitter-sweet for many Arsenal supporters on social media.

COMMENTARY:

Ramsey’s performance for Wales has certainly got Arsenal fans and those of other teams talking. Many are pointing out that he is never as incisive or dominant in the red-and-white jersey, and are wondering why that is the case. Fair enough. The 27-year-old is a top-class operator who should be in the upper bracket of Premier League performers. Instead, Arsenal still haven’t settled on the ideal position for the versatile midfielder, or consistently coaxed world-beating displays from him. They can’t even blame Arsene Wenger for that anymore, either. Ramsey has started three of Arsenal’s four matches this season and has been used in each of them in an attacking midfield role by new boss Unai Emery as he looks to take advantage of the Welshman’s movement and goalscoring potential, which has secured him 59 goals in 335 appearances for the club. Perhaps Ramsey’s display last night can get him firing for his club.
