Leeds United sent scouts to eye up Barcelona’s Under-19s win 2-1 against PSV in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday, according to Scouts in Attendance.

The reliable Twitter account, that regularly provides information about where clubs are sending their scouts, claims that the Whites also had recruitment experts check out Girona’s 3-2 win against Celta Vigo in La Liga on Monday night.

It is understood that there was also someone present at Valencia Under-19s  UEFA Youth League with Juventus on Wednesday.

OPINION

Victor Orta is at it again. Leeds’ director of football has been at the centre of a lot of criticism during his time at Elland Road for using the club’s resources to sign young players for the Under-23s rather than fixing the first team. However over the recent summer transfer window, the Whites did not touch the youth side’s too much in terms of adding new players, but it looks like the club is still on the lookout for potential future stars. There is nothing wrong with it though and watching the young stars of Barcelona, Juventus, PSV and Valencia is definitely a good idea, because there could be some quality young players there who may become available in the future. Watching Girona versus Celta Vigo is an interesting one though. There were some very good players involved in that game, including Cristhian Stuani, Iago Aspas, Pione Sisto and Stanislav Lobotka. They are Premier League standard. Are Leeds planning their top-flight preparations already?
