John Terry is expected to jump at the chance to re-sign for Aston Villa after failing to secure his move to Spartak Moscow, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper has claimed on their website that Terry’s relationship with Steve Bruce will be a key factor in the former Chelsea player’s return to Villa Park as the West Midlands side remain light in their centre-back options.

The Daily Star reported on Wednesday that a “mammoth” £60,000-a-week deal is on the cards for the 37-year-old should he finalise his return to Aston Villa.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Terry will be a brilliant signing for Villa if Bruce can secure his return.

Not only are the club short of centre-backs, they also lack leadership and could really do with his vocal presence in the backline.

Mile Jedinak has been very poor at centre-back while being played out of position by Bruce and the deadline day exit for Tommy Elphick has basically forced the Midlands giants into sign a free agent as cover.

However Terry will walk straight back into the starting line-up if he returns and should be a very good addition for the club.

Likely to happen?

Terry has been linked with returning to Villa for some time now and with his move to Spartak breaking down, it seems like the speculation is going to be fired up once again.

However Villa should not be taking this much time to make any major strides towards signing a player who is available and seemingly keen on a return so for whatever reason, something is holding this up.
