Stan Collymore has predicted that Leeds United will finish above Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and the three sides that were relegated from the Premier League last season, including free-scoring West Brom.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are currently top of the Championship table, one point ahead of second-placed Boro, with the Baggies in fourth and Villa in seventh.

Collymore claimed via his personal Twitter account on Thursday night that he also expects Leeds to stay above the likes of Swansea and Stoke when asked by a fan who he reckons he will finish highest out of the Championship’s heavyweights.

OPINION

At the moment, you cannot argue with Collymore, but it is still early days in the season and a lot can change between now and the 46th game. Leeds’ form dropped off a cliff after September last season. They have a much better squad now and a hugely impressive manager in Bielsa. They will lose their unbeaten run at some point, but it is extremely hard to see it coming right now. Middlesbrough and West Brom are perhaps the two best-placed teams to challenge Leeds at the moment. Boro are just one point behind the Whites and are the only team to stop the Baggies from scoring this season. No club in England’s top four tiers has scored more than Darren Moore’s side at this stage of the campaign, however they are suspect at the back. The Championship is such an exciting league and who knows how this is going to play out.
