West Brom are set to sign playmaker Wes Hoolahan after he arrived at the club to undergo a medical, according to Football Insider.

The reliable site claim the Championship big hitters have agreed terms with playmaker, 36, and he will sign a short-term deal that runs until January.

Football Insider report Hoolahan has impressed manager Darren Moore while on trial and West Brom have been eager to add more attacking reinforcements and creativity to their side.

Good move for West Brom?

It could be a very shrewd piece of business. Hoolahan demonstrated last season that he can still be a force in the Championship and that the lights have not totally gone out on his career. His experience and pedigree could prove to be of immense value if the Norwich legend is fit and motivated. Certainly, Moore has had the chance to have a good look at him during the international break and clearly likes what he has seen. The Baggies have got themselves an attacking midfielder who knows what is required in the English second tier, not to mention the top flight. In 351 Norwich matches – made of which were in the Premier League – Hoolahan scored 54 goals and supplied 78 assists. If he’s still got some of the old magic, the Baggies have pulled off a blinder.

Likely to happen?

Football Insider broke the news two weeks ago that Hoolahan and former Norwich teammates Russell Martin were undergoing West Brom trials. If they report the deal is all but done, expect an announcement soon that Hoolahan has become the club’s ninth signing of the summer, with five player signed permanently and three on loan before the window shut at the start of this month.
