A section of Celtic fans have been left blown away on Twitter after Scott Brown confirmed that he is in talks to sign a new deal at Parkhead.

The 33-year-old’s current agreement expires at the end of the season, but he looks set to extend his stay even further by signing a fresh contract.

“Me and the club we are speaking,” said Brown, as quoted by STV.

“There is no problem between myself and the club.

“They know i’m going to sign. There is no issues whatsoever.”

“It’s just a matter of time for us to get it done.”

Some Celtic fans are absolutely loving the news, with many suggesting that the club captain is sticking around to help them win 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row.

OPINION

Brown has been a fantastic servant for Celtic and the day that he finally leaves the club will be a sad day for all fans, so the fact that that day won’t be coming at the end of this season is a massive boost for the Scottish champions. Even though he is 33-years-old, Brown is still one of the best players, if not the best player, in Scottish football. No one breaks up play like he does, no one reads games like he does and no one can lead a team quite like he does. The former Hibernian midfielder will go down in Celtic Park history and even if another year could see his levels of performance drop, it will never overshadow what has been a fantastic career. It will be interesting to see how Celtic go about replacing Brown once he eventually decides to call it a day. Many had been tipping John McGinn to fill his boots before he signed for Aston Villa, but now it’s a complete unknown.
