Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has confirmed he was left fearing a nine month spell on the sidelines after suffering a major injury blow but is relieved that he did not need to go under the knife.
The 25-year-old forward was forced off in an under-23s game earlier this month and after tests it was revealed by the club that he had suffered posterior cruciate ligament damage, which is expected to keep him out of action for four months.
However, the striker, as relayed on the personal Twitter account of journalist Adam Pope, revealed he was worried that he initially thought it could be anywhere between six to nine months out, although refused to give an estimated return date.

Opinion
It sounds as though there would have been a lot of sighs of relief around the Elland Road corridors over Bamford – and that is with a confirmed four month absence. However bad that might be, the thought of losing him for as long as nine months, the entire season almost, is not worth the time and the Leeds faithful can be glad that they will see their summer signing back in action at some point. It is fair to say that the fans have not yet seen the very best of the former Middlesbrough man, having been used sparingly by Marcelo Bielsa to get him up to speed – which is why he was in the under-23 squad on the fateful day he picked up the blow. Still, it seems as though the player nor anyone else is complaining too much – there is no use crying over spilled milk, as they say – and everyone just wants to see him back in action as soon as possible.
