Some Swansea City fans on social media were happy over their club being linked with a move for Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Alan Nixon, a reporter for The Sun, shared via his personal Twitter account that the Swans as well as Ipswich Town were pursuing the defender’s services.

Carter-Vickers, who earns £20,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac) at Spurs, has made a total of four appearances for their senior side and spent the second half of his 2017/18 campaign on loan at The Tractor Boys.

Carter-Vickers needs to continue playing in order to fulfil his potential which allows him to eventually break into Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans in the near future. In order to do that he needs to continue having successful loan spells away from the club and a temporary spell at the Swans would do him a world of good. The 20-year-old has previously played 34 times in the Championship featuring for both Ipswich Town and Sheffield United last season so would be able to aid the Swans’ cause. While Graham Potter’s side are crying out for midfield reinforcements they could still benefit from adding a powerful centre-half like Carter-Vickers to their squad. Based on the reaction of Swans supporters on Twitter it seems they would be keen to see the 20-year-old arrive at the Liberty Stadium with one even being willing to simply give up if Ipswich successfully win the race for him. While it’s not recommended that the fan in question should give up, it will be disappointing if Swansea miss out.
