A section of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to express their mixed reactions to the club’s pursuit of Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo.
Reliable journalist Alan Nixon claimed on his personal Twitter account that Villa have asked about the young attacker, who they want to sign on loan for the season before the transfer deadline on August 31st.
He tweeted that the Championship outfit had a realistic chance of snapping up the 21-year-old, who has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield.
The news that Villa were pursuing the Liverpool outcast has left the supporters divided, with comments including “would be decent” and “who is he?”

Albrighton and Snodgrass both started yesterday, like you say, can’t seen them happening now. Would happily take Ojo over Bolasie as he’s injury prone. Need Abraham or someone similar massively also, and a CB!!!

Gerrin! That'll be LB sorted. Then Hutton can move across to CB to partner Jedinak and Chester can be a ball boy #iamstevebruce

Another player to be shunted into a defensive role

Was on loan at Fulham last season and didn’t seem to offer much at all, was benched half way through the season, if we sign him I guess this means we missed out on Bolasie

OPINION
The Villa faithful look to be divided over the club’s pursuit of Sheyi Ojo, with one even questioning who he is. That is not a good sign – but the potential addition of Ojo would be gladly welcomed at Villa Park nonetheless. The club need a more defensive minded player, with one fan even joking that he may be used to operate in a defensive role should he make the move to the Midlands. However, some are encouraged by the fact Villa are after a player from one of the Premier League top-six, even if he has not featured much for them. As they are obviously aiming for promotion after failing last season, boss Steve Bruce needs to recruit all the attacking talent they can get their hands on, especially now they have kept Jack Grealish from Tottenham’s grasp. All the supporters can do now is sit and wait and see if Ojo will soon become a Championship player.
