West Brom are on the verge of signing Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo, according to a reliable journalist.

Daily Mail correspondent Jack Gaughan reported on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon that the centre-back is “heading” to the Hawthorns on a season-long loan.

Adarabioyo, 20, has made eight senior City appearances since graduating from their academy.

Good move for West Brom?

Yes, definitely. The giant centre-back has been long regarded as a star of the future and has already made enough progress to feature twice for City in last season’s Champions League. Given the calibre of player blocking his path at the Etihad Stadium, it is little wonder that he has been loaned out and West Brom have landed themselves a gem by winning the race for his signature with a host of other Championship clubs. Darren Moore is certainly in need of a new centre-back after a raft of departures in that position over the summer in the wake of the team’s relegation from the top flight.

Likely to happen?

Gaughan is a reliable source and it appears that this deal is all but done. Guardiola has stated he wants to keep all his first teamers but it appears that he has no place in his squad for Adarabioyo. A loan would provide him with much-needed senior experience, although West Brom are likely to pay a big chunk of his £30,000-a-week wages (source: Spotrac).
