Blackburn Rovers have submitted an £8million bid for Nottingham Forest attacker Ben Brereton, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper report that Forest are currently deciding whether to sell the 19-year-old forward as they could opt to keep him for another season in order to boost his value.

The Sun report that Aitor Karanka’s side value Brereton as being closer to being worth £12million but there’s no word on whether the club have rejected Blackburn’s latest seven-figure offer for their player.

Good Move for Nottingham Forest?

Brereton hasn’t featured in Forest’s first five matches of the season so it’s clear that Karanka feels his side can cope without him but the club need to rake in as much money as possible from his sale if they’re going sanction it.

It might be wise to hold on to the teenager for another season in order to ensure that the club get a fee nearer, or even higher, than the £12million price tag they’ve slapped on the youngster.

However given that Blackburn owners, the Venky’s, are willing to splash the cash as their chicken business has raked in the money recently then perhaps they can increase their £8million offer if they really want him.

Likely to happen?

Blackburn have already seen a £6million offer rejected and the transfer window closing hasn’t seen their pursuit slow down either, so it’s clear they’re determined to get Brereton.

Forest’s Championship rivals are looking to loan the 6ft tall forward (Transfermarkt) until January before seeing a permanent deal go through so it’s clear they want to be able to instantly include him in their plans, which means they won’t give up easily.

This deal has a chance of happening but it will all come down to whether Forest wish to gamble on getting a higher transfer fee for Brereton in January or in the summer.
