Nottingham Forest have identified Porto enforcer Saidy Janko as one of their top targets on deadline day, according to the Nottingham Post.

The regional newspaper reports on its website that Forest are keen to add another right-back to their ranks on Friday, and they are working on a deal to land the 22-year-old.

Current right-back Sam Byram sustained a knee injury on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle United, but the Reds do not know how long he will be out for.

While Byram recovers from his injury, Forest want to bring in the defender from the Champions League side to provide cover and healthy competition for Tendayi Darikwa.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

Yes, it would be a good move for Forest. Janko may not have made a single appearance for Porto, but he has a vast amount of experience with a whole host of clubs, including Manchester United.

Boss Aitor Karanka would appreciate having someone with Janko’s experience as cover amongst his ranks – and he should look no further than the Swiss defender.

Having depth is important, and Karanka seems to have found the perfect player to provide that.

Likely to happen?

Yes it is fairly likely to happen, but the Janko only made the move to Porto this summer after having a spell with French club Saint Etienne.

No other club seems to have identified Janko as a target, and Nottingham Forest must make the most of that to snap him up quickly before the deadline.

They do not have long to land his signature – and with no obstacles in the way of a deal, a move seems extremely likely.
