West Ham are on the verge of signing Vitoria forward Xande Silva in a seven-figure deal worth £1.3million, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese news outlet has claimed that Silva, 21, is jetting in to London today (Wednesday) to undergo a medical with the Hammers before signing a three-year deal at the London Stadium.

It is understood that the Portugal youth international is not in the first team plans at Vitoria and has been made available to leave the Portuguese club this summer.

The report adds that Vitoria have tied in a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the deal.

Good move for West Ham?

Even though Silva has not really been in prolific form in his 30 senior appearances at Vitoria – he has scored just one goal – this deal could be a very shrewd move by West Ham and one that could be a major financial success in the future.

For £1.3million, the Hammers have bagged themselves a forward who had a release clause reportedly worth £13.3million, so it is clear that Vitoria once had high hopes for the striker.

The deal is peanuts in relation to what is being spent elsewhere in the Premier League and even if Silva does not prove to be a massive success in London, his resale value will surely be higher and could see the club land a healthy profit.

Likely to happen?

With Silva on his way to the UK, it does seem as though this deal is all but done.

It is understood that there is a three-year deal ready to be signed by the young forward and it is unlikely that his medical checks will bring up any worries.

The 21-year-old will surely be played in the Under-23s for the upcoming Premier League 2 season, but it will be interesting to see him play the odd first team game.
