West Brom are seriously considering a swoop to sign Leicester centre-back Wes Morgan on loan, according to Kick Off.

The news outlet claims that the Baggies are plotting a move for Morgan, 34, after the 30-times Jamaica international was dropped to the bench for the Foxes 2-0 win against Wolves on Saturday.

Harry Maguire and ex-Hawthorns star Jonny Evans look as though they are going to be the first-choice pairing at centre-back at the King Power this season, and that could see Morgan struggle for first team football.

Good move for West Brom?

Morgan would be a brilliant signing if Darren Moore was able to pull it off.

He is a real leader at the back and given the form of Ahmed Hegazi and Craig Dawson being missing in action, the Baggies could probably do with some extra depth to their centre-back options if Moore can seal a loan for Morgan before the end of the month.

According to statistics website Spotrac, the Leicester star is earning £60,000-a-week on his deal at the King Power, and surely West Brom wouldn’t want to cover all of that so would have to try and negotiate paying a percentage of it.

But even if the Black Country club has to pay 100 per cent of them wages, a player like Morgan could be invaluable in the chase for promotion and if he can be anything like the current Leicester loanee at The Hawthorns, Harvey Barnes, then Albion are on for a winner.

Likely to happen?

Due to the fact that Morgan started in Leicester’s Premier League opener against Manchester United when Evans was unavailable, it’s not likely that Claude Puel will be willing to let the ex-Nottingham Forest man leave the King Power any time soon.

He is too good to be loaned out to the Championship and Leicester will know that, so it is quite hard to see this happening.
