Ben Foster posted a message on Twitter after Watford’s 3-1 win against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday – and it prompted a reaction from some West Brom fans who still appear to be bitter about the ex-England goalkeeper leaving them earlier in the summer.

Foster, 35, quit the Baggies after they were relegated from the Premier League, despite his previous promise that he was going to help the Black Country club to try and earn an instant promotion from the Championship.

And even though the message on his personal Twitter account was completely unrelated to the Black Country club and he simply hailed a “great start to the season” for Watford, some West Brom fans saw it fit to respond.

OPINION

When are some of these West Brom fans going to give it a rest? Foster has gone. Get over it. The Baggies won 7-1 against QPR on Saturday and yet some people still find it hard to show a bit of positivity and rather troll former players rather than focus on how well the current Hawthorns players played at the weekend. Foster is a decent signing for Watford but Albion also got a quality replacement for him in Sam Johnstone, who is improving with each game he plays. The former Aston Villa loanee saved a penalty at Norwich and put in a man of the match display despite conceding three goals. He also pulled off one of the saves of the season in the 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest. It’s not a bad thing that Foster has gone as it has given Darren Moore the chance to revamp his goalkeeper options. Some of the fans just need to unfollow Foster and stop concerning themselves with someone who is no longer their player.
