Some fans find it odd that Pochettino has opted to axe the 22-year-old Colombia international, with one saying that it is “harsh.”

The @AlderweireldTob & @JanVertonghen partnership is back! Harsh on Sanchez, but these two are the best pairing in the league, no doubt. #COYS

OPINION
Sanchez has been a mainstay for Tottenham since he joined the club from Ajax last summer, and it is no shock that some of the Spurs fans are wondering why Pochettino has axed him for the clash with Manchester United. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are clearly more fancied by Pochettino and are arguably the two best centre-backs in the Premier League, but Sanchez has not exactly done less than those pair in the opening games of the season and he should really be starting. It seems as though this is down to a change in formation though and Pochettino must see that a flat-four at the back is his best option. Sanchez has made 43 appearances across all competitions since joining Spurs, and it looks as though the defensive mainstay may only be able to add to that if he is brought off the Old Trafford bench on Monday night.
