Tottenham are in the hunt to sign Irish teenager Elvis Azah, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims on their website that Arsenal and West Ham are also interested in signing the 17-year-old attacker, who recently had a trial with newly-promoted Cardiff.

It is understood that Azah has also had trials with Celtic, Manchester United and Everton, but couldn’t sign for them at the time due to him not having Irish citizenship.

However the Mail reports that the in-demand Ghanaian-born wonderkid now has Irish citizenship and can sign for clubs in England without an issue.

Good move for Tottenham?

Azah certainly looks like a real prospect, with a number of top clubs in the UK showing interest in signing him and surely if he had his Irish citizenship a while back, he would have been snapped up by someone by now.

Now that he is eligible to play in England, it is definitely worth Tottenham’s time in trying to snap up the youngster because he could be a really good player for them in the future.

The Mail has added that Azah is a very quick player who is good on the ball and loves to beat defenders, and any kind of exciting player with that talent should be snapped up without a second thought.

It probably won’t cost much for Spurs to do this either as Azah appears to be available as he has had so many trials.

Likely to happen?

As so many clubs have show interest in signing Azah, it would certainly be difficult for Spurs to win the race for his signature.

Man United, Everton, Celtic and Cardiff have all had the youngster on trial so if he liked being at them clubs and they still wanted to sign him, they could be in pole position for his signature ahead of the three London clubs.
