Swansea are in the hunt to sign Real Madrid centre-forward Dani Gomez, according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning that the Swans have eyed up Gomez, 20, before and could try to sign him on loan before the end of August.

Gomez has never made a senior appearance for Real Madrid, but has been a regular for their development sides. Last season he scored 13 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions for their Castilla side and Under-19s.

Good move for Swansea?

Obviously, everyone will get excited about potentially signing a player from Real Madrid, but Gomez is probably not the best player that Graham Potter should be looking at right now.

Gomez offers something different to what the Swans already have, but he does not offer a lot in the way of experience as he has only ever made 25 league appearances for Real Madrid Castilla in the second-tier of Spanish football.

Potter should be looking at someone who at least has experience in the Championship because it is unlikely that Gomez will have much of an impact this season, unless the Welsh club want to sign him on loan with the view to making it permanent.

Likely to happen?

Swansea do not have a lot of time to make this happen now with the loan window closing in less than a week.

Potter has up until Friday to sign Gomez on loan if he wants him, but for some reason, it just doesn’t feel as though this one is going to happen and the Championship club will look elsewhere to bolster their strike force.
