A section of Southampton fans have been left raging on Twitter after it was confirmed that Harrison Reed has joined Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan.
The Saints announced via their official Twitter account and official website on Monday that Reed, 23, has agreed a temporary exit to join Tony Mowbray’s side, but not many fans of the south coast club are happy with the decision.

OPINION
Reed is a very highly-rated player at St Mary’s and these Southampton are clearly gutted that he has not been considered to play in the first team after a poor start to the Premier League season. While he is 23-years-old and has probably reached his peak ability, Reed could probably do a job for the Saints, especially as a back-up option at the very least. The midfielder is a solid signing for Blackburn, especially after such a good season on loan at Norwich last term and judging by the way the Saints fans are reacting, he could tear it up at Ewood Park this season. If he does hit the ground running at Blackburn then these Saints fans are bound to be even more furious, especially if their results in the Premier League do not improve. An away trip to Crystal Palace is Mark Hughes’ next league challenge, and if they lose that, it could set a real panic into the club.

Gallagher will be next then I reckon!! Such a shame. Was looking forward to seeing Sims, Reed and Sammy this season coming through. I imagine Targett will go out on loan too!

Given how Romeu & Hojbjerg have performed so far this season, Reed should have been starting against Brighton tomorrow night.

Another kid binned off to a team with no stake in his future while overpaid, not-even-average journeymen stink up the joint playing his position for the first team. #SaintsFC used to care about developing their own players – then again they used to care about winning too.
