Rangers fans react to Middleton promotion at Rangers

|

A number of Rangers supporters have been left raving after it was confirmed that manager Steven Gerrard has made the significant decision to promote young attacker Glenn Middleton to the first team this season.

The former Norwich City winger, who arrived at Ibrox from the Canaries in the winter transfer window, has already featured in three of the four Europa League qualifiers this summer, coming on as a substitute.

Having made his senior bow, the Light Blues confirmed on their official Twitter account and website that the 18-year-old would be a full member of the first team, the former Liverpool man having already run the rule over the youngster in pre-season training.

The move was warmly welcomed by many of the Gers faithful on Twitter, who believe he is a seriously talented prospect, with one fan claiming it was a “no brainer” to give him a chance in the senior squad.

This is Futbol has rounded up some of the reactions from fans:

Opinion

Middleton might just well be the most popular 18-year-old at Ibrox right now and considering his performances, it is clear to see why. He has that no fear attitude that means he is always looking to try and make something happen, and in mere minutes of first team action he is getting fans off their feet. He will not be a starter any time soon – he lacks the consistency and physicality for that – but he will no doubt change games if Gerrard throws him on in the last half an hour. Fans are right to be delighted to see him promoted to the first team squad permanently, for it means they are set to see more of him in action.
