Rangers have been linked with a move to bring Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack back to Ibrox, according to Teamtalk, and fans are in two minds.

The report claims that Aston Villa would pay nearly all of McCormack’s £40,000-a-week salary after looking at cancelling his contract.

However, that is said to be problematic and now they’re looking at shifting him to another club for the rest of the season.

Rangers are said to be a real option for McCormack but not all fans are convinced it’s a good move.

OPINION

Aston Villa are desperate to get rid of McCormack who has been a total dud for them, scoring just three goals in 24 games. However, he’s shown that he’s still got his scoring boots with him, notching 14 in 17 games in a loan spell for Melbourne. If Villa are willing to cover most of his wages then surely he’d be a good option for Rangers? As an impact sub he could help take the strain off Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty, if the Hearts man signs as expected. However, if Rangers have Morelos, Lafferty and Umar Sadiq, do they really need another striker on the books? It would seem like overkill but we still think that McCormack could off something. If he’s not going to cost much and it’s a short-term deal, what’s the harm? One thing is certain, he’s not going to find a better stage to try to manufacture one last move for himself.
