A number of Rangers fans have taken to social media to reveal how devastated they are by the hammer blow that winger Jamie Murphy has been ruled out of the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.
Manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed, as quoted on the club’s official Twitter account, that the 28-year-old, who has been a key member of the first team squad this season, will be forced to watch from the sidelines for the rest of the campaign as he recovers from the serious blow.

The news will be tough to take for Rangers, who have seen Murphy feature in all but one of their matches across all competitions this season, and the Ibrox faith were left gutted on Twitter, with some expressing their frustrations at Kilmarnock’s artificial pitch.
This is FutbolĀ has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ tweets:

Opinion
This is an absolutely awful turn of events for the Gers, but at least they have time on their side to get a replacement through the door before the end of the transfer window come the end of August. Murphy has been one of the best performers under Gerrard who appears to get the best out of the former Brighton man, and whoever is chosen to step into his shoes, be it a current member of the Light Blues’ squad or a new signing, has a tough task to follow. Perhaps someone like Glenn Middleton, the young talent who is highly rated at Ibrox, could fill the gap, and it would be a perfect opportunity for him to pick up some much needed game time in his development. On the other hand Jordan Jones has been touted as a possible new arrival, and he could plug the void left by Murphy’s unfortunate absence.
