Celtic fan favourite Odsonne Edouard has been ruled out of the club’s clash against Partick Thistle this weekend and is facing a race against time to be fit for the Europa League clash against Suduva next week, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the French hitman, who became the club’s record signing this summer, has suffered a minor injury blow but it is enough to keep him as a serious doubt for the first team over the next two weeks.

He sat out the Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens and is now said to be fighting the clock to appear in their next couple of games.

Opinion

If there was one man that Celtic did not want to lose right now, it would be Edouard. He has been one of the top performers over the last couple of weeks and with Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths both having recently returned from injury, there is going to be no one fully fit for Brendan Rodgers to pick from. Of course, it could have been worse and the other duo could have still been sidelined only for Edouard to join them, and so there is some sort of silver lining to it all. Still, Edouard was a huge miss against Athens and with their European hopes on the line next week, having him forced to miss out would not do their chances any good. It is now time for Griffiths and Dembele to step up to the plate and prove that they have what it takes to fill the big man’s boots. If not, this season could be about to get a whole lot worse for the Hoops.
