Celtic are close to signing Leicester City centre-back Filip Benkovic on loan, and fans are thrilled by the news.
The Premier League side only signed the 21-year-old a few weeks ago for £13million, but now they’re ready to send him north of the border.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed the deal was close to being completed.
Speaking on the BBC he said, “”He’s a highly-rated young centre-half, big presence in both boxes, can play, and we’ll see if we can complete that.”

Celtic fans need something to get excited about today and although this is only a loan move, they’re getting a Premier League quality player. We wonder whether Leicester thought Harry Maguire might go, as £13million is a lot to pay to send someone out on loan, but it’s a very good indication of the gulf in wealth between the English and Scottish top-flight. One fan said that he was “different class” but added it was a “disgrace” that Leicester could afford to do it and wanted the bubble to burst down south. Many Celtic fans were excited by the news though, but they’ll be waiting on tenterhooks to see if star striker Moussa Dembele stays after reported interest and a cryptic tweet from the player himself that suggested he wasn’t happy at being made to stay. It’s going to be an interesting day for Celtic fans.
