Schalke have no interest in signing Danny Rose from Tottenham, according to Sky Sports.

They reported on their live blog (Tuesday, 2.03pm) that the Bundesliga side just want one more deal this summer – a left-back who would cost around £5.5-£6million.

According to Sky they have no interest in loan deals and are hoping to wrap up their business by the weekend.

Danny Rose was apparently discussed but rejected as he was too expensive.

OPINION

Poor old Danny Rose. Since giving that interview to the Sun his stock has dropped but it seems Mauricio Pochettino is as much to blame for this. He hasn’t played Rose much in a similar way to Toby Alderweireld. They’re both world-class strikers but with Daniel Levy holding off for around £60million for Alderweireld and £50million for Rose, he could be pricing them out of the market. At his best Rose could easily command that fee but why would a club pay top dollar for a player who hasn’t played much the season before? He only started nine Premier League games last season – and that’s not the mark of a man you’re going to pay £50million for. With Schalke out of the frame, that just leaves PSG at the moment, but surely there would be plenty of clubs willing to take Rose on loan? Staying at Tottenham would be a disaster for Rose’s career. He needs regular first-team football to get his career back on track, and he’s not going to get it under Pochettino.
