Leeds striker Kemar Roofe is back in training today and is fit after being seen with an ice pack on Saturday, but Pontus Jansson will not play in the match on Tuesday night after injuring himself in training.

This was confirmed by Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Championship game against Swansea.

Roofe scored one and made one on Saturday as he continues to keep big-money summer-signing Patrick Bamford out of the side.

He played 87 minutes in the 2-0 win over Rotherham and was replaced by Bamford for the dying minutes.

Jansson came on for his first cameo appearances in the league in the Rotherham clash, but will not play a part in the game tomorrow. Bielsa added that he might be fit for Saturday.

OPINION

Good news and bad news for Leeds. Roofe is like a new player under Bielsa and has scored three times in three games, keeping Bamford out of the side. Having Bamford means that Bielsa has a readymade replacement but injuries will probably play a key part in Leeds’ season and keeping players fit and having a deep pool to select from is really important. The injury to Jansson doesn’t sound too serious and he might well be back for Saturday. He’s not commanded a place in Bielsa’s starting XI since his return from the World Cup and so it shouldn’t really affect the team’s momentum. He will want to start playing as soon as possible though and playing two league games in a week could start to stretch Bielsa’s preference for keeping with the same group of players. It’s another tough game on Tuesday, away at one of the sides that got relegated from the Premier League last season. Another win would keep Leeds flying at the top of the table, but they’ll have to do it without Jansson.
