Rangers are putting together a revised offer for Hearts and Northern Ireland forward Kyle Lafferty, according to broadcaster Bill Young.

The Rock Sport Radio host, who has broken numerous stories about the Gers this summer, claimed via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that Steven Gerrard is expecting to complete more signings within the next seven days as he prepares for the upcoming Scottish Premiership season.

Among that business could be a deal for Lafferty, who according to BBC Sport has already been the subject of a rejected £200,000 offer from the Light Blues this summer.

The Daily Record claims that Hearts want £1million for the former Rangers ace.

Good move for Rangers?

Lafferty would be a very good signing for Rangers, but they must stump up the money if they want to see the Northern Irishman return to Ibrox after a stunning debut season at Hearts last time out.

The 30-year-old 19 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions for the Edinburgh club and there is no way that he will be heading down the M8 for anything around the Gers’ opening offer of £200,000.

Gerrard could do with some experience in his attack and signing a Rangers fan like Lafferty would be excellent business, but the club must be willing to pay what he is worth.

Likely to happen?

Rangers have a habit of tabling very small opening offers just to test the water, and it may have been done in an effort to try and unsettle the former Norwich man.

That has not worked, but he would surely be keen to return to Ibrox this summer.

Hearts are not likely to budge on their asking price though, so this could turn into somewhat of a saga.
