Swansea striker and self-confessed Rangers fan Oli McBurnie aimed a sly dig at Celtic after they crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

A late goal away from home from Scott Sinclair wasn’t enough to save them after they drew 1-1 in the first leg and conceded two goals at Athens.

It means they have to suffer the ignominy of dropping down to the Europa league qualifiers.

And McBurnie couldn’t resist sticking the knife in after the game when he tweeted “Anyone fancy a kebab?” with an emoji of the Greek flag.

OPINION

This tweet got the reaction that McBurnie was looking for, as Celtic and Rangers fans flocked onto his Twitter feed to respond. McBurnie is a Rangers fans and they loved the fact that he was causing mischief on their behalf. It seems that there are a few Gers at the Welsh club as George Byers responded to McBurnie asking for two. Byers has Ibrox in his profile picture on Twitter and he got his fair share of stick from Celtic supporters. McBurnie followed up his tweet with a gif of someone pressing a big red button labelled ‘Easy’ and must have been pretty happy with his work on social media. For Celtic fans, it’s a bad start to the season after a pretty disappointing summer. Things couldn’t be any more different at Rangers. Confidence is high, the momentum is with them, and Steven Gerrard is still unbeaten in a competitive game. The first Old Firm game of the season is going to be a monster.
