Lee Hodson is on the verge of leaving Rangers to join St Mirren on loan, according to STV reporter Raman Bhardwaj.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 26-year-old Northern Ireland international should even join the Gers’ Scottish Premiership rivals on a temporary basis later today (Monday).

Hodson has not made a single appearance in Steven Gerrard’s team this season, but was on the bench for the 2-0 win over St Mirren earlier this month.

Good move for Rangers?

Hodson’s time at Ibrox is effectively over.

He has not been getting regular game-time for quite some time now and it seems as though this loan deal is on the verge of materialising because no one has any interest in signing him on a permanent deal.

Hodson’s contract with the Light Blues expires next summer so this basically means that the full-back is going to be leaving the Glasgow giants on a free transfer.

It is unlikely that he will be agreeing a new deal with the club due to his status in the squad, so this is probably going to be the end of the ex-Watford man’s time in Glasgow.

Likely to happen?

With the STV journalist claiming that this deal is going to be done and dusted later on Monday, it wouldn’t be a massive shock to see it be sealed.

Hodson is not a very good player and nowhere near the quality that Gerrard will want in his squad, which is why he has brought in a couple of new full-backs this summer.
