Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to welcome Manchester City’s versatile player Oleksandr Zivchenko on Thursday (9 August) to seal one of two transfer deals on deadline day, according to the Express and Star.

The newspaper claim on their website that the 21-year-old flyer, who can operate down the left flank or in central midfield, is set to arrive at Compton Park to put the final touches on what is set to be a £16million switch, joining Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker in completing a move on the final day of the window.

It is stated that the Belgian has already arrived at the club ahead of a prospective £12million move, and that he and Zinchenko are on the brink of signing in what will be the latest and last additions before the market shuts at 5pm on Thursday.

Good move for Wolves?

What a great summer of business the Molineux outfit will have had if Dendoncker and Zinchenko sign on the dotted line before the deadline.

They are both exciting arrivals for Nuno Esperito Santo and should help shore up a team who were celebrated for their attacking play on the way to the Championship title, and there should be a great balance about them when they kick off on their return to the top flight.

It goes to show that they will not be making up the numbers in the Premier League and instead are making the sort of signings which will put them in the thick of the action in the middle of the table – or perhaps higher.

Likely to happen?

It certainly seems that way, and with Dendoncker said to have already undergone the necessary tests, it looks as though the only doubt will be Zinchenko.

Quite frankly though, the Manchester City man has always looked likely to move to Molineux, with reports linking him with a switch all summer, and it is a surprise it has taken until the final day of the season to see it go through.
